The Magic Ship

A dream exists
A dream amidst
a forest
A dream dreamt by many
Can soon become reality
As this one did
Dreamt from the depths of a creative mind
Created by strength out of the dreaming time
Into reality this dream did sail
To create this amazing tale...

In the Age of the Dark
The Age of Destruction
Before the Age of Change
A light of Foresight was ignited
Though many did find it strange
It came in time
Came at a sign
it was needed
The seed was sown
And now its grown
Into....

A living dream

Find this living dream
And make it part of your own..

Find this living dream
Though diffulcult it may seem
Journey first through black and ash
Past the monstors of destruction
Past the grounds of desecration
Past the rows of mass production
Through the lands of the past
To the lands of forever
Where life begins once more

Find this living dream
Traverse the past country
Undertake the journey
To discover what life can be
When the bounds of comfort are shed
When you give yourself to being led
By the dreams

Journey on the twist and bends
To the place where death ends
Where the damaged and weary can land to mend
And find a home
The road long travelled can finally end
No longer doomed to roam
To find that place
Safe...
Here you can explore the dreamland
With life in your hand.

Find this Living dream
In the midst of a forest
In the depths of a valley
In the boughs of a tree
In the bowels of a ship
Backdropped by sunshine mist
Sealed with the precious kiss
of water
The living dream so long sought after
Is found

The living dream
Forever now.

A ship built by hope
In the middle of a road
Destined to encroach and destroy
Is deterred
and the process of destruction reversed
Into an act of Creation
Reclamation
Of life and dreams

The Living Dream
Sail it down the stream
Until the river seam
Teeming with the dreams
Of the Magic Ship
That slips smoothly past the turbulence of humanity
Emerging gracefully into the mists of life
Dispelling the tensioned ropes of strife
She sails

We choose comfort and lose the dream
Beware those soft nooks of comfort
Much is lost to their dark crannies
Soft dark places whose tendrils
slowly entwine you snare you
Carry you lulled and lost
Numbed by their constant tender pulse
Escape if you dare to dream
You must
For the world will be lost to the crannies of comfort
And the dreams to the dark

Escape if you dare to dream
You must
You must

morning

So the wash up from yesterdays action was one arrest and a vandalised car, good media response, a refusal to comment by the power station proponents NP Biomass, and indications from the office of the energy minister that there could be a power station happening in the near future. The physical location of the power plant at the southwood site was also undergoing renewed earthworks this morning, after no work occuring for the last 3 weeks, and a new entrance gate was being built to the site.

Other tassie forest news, the draft EIA for the pulp mill was leaked, with indication that the mill wil be reliant on up to 80% native forest at start up, and that the state government has already drawn up plans with Gunns for access to 32 million tonnes of native forest over a twenty year period, mainly from the NE.

Also South Sister have been found not liable for compensation to forestry tasmania over failed legal action to prevent logging, and earlier this week contractors illiegally felled a tree containg a wedge-tailed eagle nest in the NW.

Southwood Action today

heya,
Weld mob conducted an action at the Southwood forest products industrial complex , close to the Weld Valley. The complex currently houses a large scale saw mill, and a veneer mill run by malaysian company Ta-Ann holdings is currently being constructed, with the valley behind Camp Weld expected to be used as feedstock for the venner mill. The primary concern is the fact that the Southwood wood fired power station , proposed since 1998, will be developed soon, with public indications, local info and physical evidence supporting this. The woodfired power station, currently proposed by US company National Power Projects, will consume over 300,000 tonnes of native forest "waste" (waste includes "fallen trees" by definition) per year.

Todays action intended to force attention to the issue and attempt to gain indications from the state government as to their intentions and plans for the power station. We've got strong tassie-based media coverage as a result of the action and tentative confirmation of developement plans from the state government.

Both entrances to the complex were blocked by locked-on activists from 530am to 930am, with around 60 workers and building contractors locked out, until workers cut thru a fence to create an alternate entry point. One activist was arrested and one of our cars vandalised. (second time in a week).

In the Denison, logging is continuing in coupe DN19D, which contains wedge tailed eagles nests. after a month of actions in may dealing with an adjacent coupe, a couple of actions have occured focusing on this coupe.

Coupes of concern in the Arve and Picton valleys have no work commenced as yet, and roading operations into the Upper Florentine are still stalled until summertime.

There have been stirrings in the proposed, threatening, ancient forest devouring beast that is the wood fired power station at Southwood, with campaigners from the HVEC working on this, and some announcement expected soon. meanwhile, work on the rotary veneer mill at the southwood site is progressing.

SOS stress

Hey all

having a procrastination moment and thought i'd say hey to anyone who may be out there. I'm in the last minute rush of preparation for the annual Students of Sustainability Conference, which is exciting and scary as anything. Everyone keeps telling me to just speak from the heart, but how to speak from a heart thats beating so fast you can't figure out what its saying.

Anyway its coming together bit by painstaking bit, so good luck to me. Camp is wet and muddy, but everyone is as warm and happy as they can be.

Hi and bye
