Police Crackdown in Slowbart Town

Yesterday a peaceful protest turned to the ridiculous when two people were arrested, one of them TWICE?!.

About twenty community activists started outside the Hobart Magistrates Court in the morning to support a fellow activist facing charges of tresspass he received in the Weld Valley last month.
After he pled not guilty with the trial adjourned to March, the activists moved to Paul Lennons office to voice their concerns regarding the future of the old growth forests of Tasmania.
After regaling the building and the security guards with a Christmas Jingle and giving a gift of a pile of woodchips in the foyer, we moved peacefully on to Hobarts Federal Court where Bob Brown was receiving the directives of the revolutionary win in his long battled Wielangta Case.

There purely to show our support in this supposedly democratic country as is our right, it ended in one person being arrested for failing to comply with police orders when asked to move. Another person was then arrested when trying to find out the reason the other person was arrested. He resisted arrest as is understandable considering that he was just trying to look after one of his mates, purportedly one of the great Aussie traditions. In an Australian Immigration Test, he'd definitely pass ( he even gives a fuck about the cricket).

The situation continues to get more and more ludicrous, as the remaining protestors were told that they were not allowed within an exclusion zone that encompassed the majority of the CBD.
People who lived within the area or needed to walk through the area to get home were left a little confounded about what they were meant to do.

AND THEn...
Stupidities of stupidities, the first person that was arrested was let out on bail , stopped outside the Remand Centre to roll a cigarette, and the bail officer returning from lunch said your're breaking your bail conditions, you're under arrest!
The person was released last night around 8pm and faces court on JAnuary 15.

In Other Breaking News,
it was a busy day down here, the camp in the forest was busted this morning, with two people arrested. The fight in the forest will continue...

Hope to see lots and lots of you summer kiddies soon. Lots to do, forest to save and all that...
